While it’s the likes of Rey, Kylo, and Luke who cause the most theorising, they have taken a backseat when it comes to the pop-culture (and merchandising) phenomenon that is the Porgs.

The cute little puffin-like creatures have been stealing hearts and wallets ever since they were first unveiled, and are set to have a decent part in the movie too: lots of them live on Ahch-To, and at least one joins Chewie in the Falcon. However, while they’re clearly adorable, not everyone is a fan. John Boyega told EW:

“I just remember doing some stuff and seeing a lot of porgs around. And they are interesting, but for me, I had a love/hate relationship with them. They’re very, very cute, but when you put them in a bunch, in holes, on the Millennium Falcon, that’s when they start to become really, really freaky. They’ve got real big eyes, all bunched together. There were, like, little tiny ones and little big ones that would just…yeah, it looks like a rash.”

So, maybe not quite as cute as we first thought - and Boyega’s comments suggest more than one makes it onto the Falcon; perhaps by accident, maybe to help, or, awfully, as snacks for Chewbacca.
