Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
5. Poe Dameron
Poe Dameron is the best frickin' pilot in the galaxy, but his character didn't go much beyond that tagline in The Force Awakens (especially as he disappeared for so much of it). The Last Jedi makes much better use of Oscar Isaac's considerable talent, taking a closer look at the Resistance hero outside of just blowing things up.
Through his relationships with Leia (which takes on a surrogate son/mother feel) and Holdo, we get a thorough inspection of his hero complex, headstrong nature, and hatred of the First Order that ties into the theme of sacrifice that runs across the movie.
It gives us a deeper character by the end of the movie, while still allowing him to be cool as f**k, charming, and jumping in an X-wing and blowing things up in style.
