Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer - 10 Things We Want To See
2. A Sign Of What Rian Johnson's Brought
J.J. Abrams was a fine choice of director for Episode VII; a huge Star Wars fan with a proven track record of delivering blockbusters and rebooting franchises, he was a safe pair of hands to bring the saga soaring back to the screen.
Rian Johnson, on the other hand, is much more of a risk, but a very exciting one at that. The writer/director hasn't handled anything as big as Star Wars before, but he has shown his considerable talents in sci-fi with Looper, his singular vision with Brick, and a knack for engrossing storytelling and pacing with his Breaking Bad episodes.
With him at the helm things could get very weird, and we may see things we've never before experienced in Star Wars. Ensuring a 'Star Wars-feel' to the trailers is important, but it's crucial that the vision Johnson has brought (whatever form that takes) is allowed to shine through as well.
