2. Space Battle

It wouldn't be Star Wars without a big space battle, obviously - the clue is kinda in the name - and this trailer certainly does not disappoint on that level.

Here we see the kind of space-based dogfight that Star Wars almost always excels at, and it looks like Rian Johnson and Steve Yedlin (his long-time cinematographer who is once again onboard for this) have really delivered here.

It's chaotic, with X-wings, what looks like B-wings (or some version, anyway, though we see colours that suggest A-wings are involved too) and TIEs flying all over the place, and of course lasers flying everywhere.

As you can make out as well, the planet this is taking place over is D'Qar, which is the headquarters of the Resistance. It was the next target of the First Order's Starkiller Base after it destroyed the Hosnian system, but the desruction of the base obviously stopped that idea in its tracks.

The First Order haven't forgotten about it though, and are clearly still intent on taking down the Resistance's base of operations. With the Republic largely wiped out the First Order can go after the galaxy more fully, and the Resistance is the only thing standing in their way, so it's a clever strategy to take out their home.
