Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Reactions - 8 Ups & 2 Downs
5. The Empire Are Rising Again
Though they limped out of The Force Awakens to regroup, this middle sequel will undoubtedly see what remains of the First Order doubling down and fighting back, rather than licking their wounds. As The Empire Strikes Back proved, the bad guys are never better than when they are backed into a corner like a wounded animal, and that tends to be when they are at their most devastating.
This might not be good news for anyone hoping to see a happy ending for the Rebellion, but Star Wars movies are always better when they're focused more on explosive villains rather than on space bureaucracy, so it's a welcome - if not exactly unexpected - development.
Plus, the shots of the Resistance base blowing up from within inspire some pretty interesting theories concerning infiltration and possible traitors. Maybe that's where Finn is...?
There's also a shot that confirms the return of Captain Phasma (you can tell by the gait far more than the blurred mask), and hopefully this is a promise of her getting to do more this time to live up to her fearsome billing. That's something we can all be excited about.
