17. Han Solo Callbacks

Abrams certainly did a good job keeping Harrison Ford's cameo under wraps, as the actor appears late in the movie as a "memory" of Han Solo which appears before Kylo Ren.

The exchange largely holds a mirror up to their prior standoff in The Force Awakens, which of course ended with Han's murder at his son's hand.

Just as he said in that movie, Kylo tells his father, "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."

The context is entirely different this time, though: in The Force Awakens it was all about killing his dad, whereas in The Rise of Skywalker it refers to turning to the Light Side.

The scene ends with another nod to an iconic Star Wars moment, as when Ben tries to find the words to tell his father he loves him, Han classically retorts with, "I know."
