Star Wars and ludicrous fan theories go together like PB&J, so it's little surprise there are a number of nutty - yet fascinating - theories regarding the Knights of Ren's role in The Rise of Skywalker.

Let's kick things off with perhaps the craziest of the lot - that the Knights of Ren are all clones of Rey.

The theory suggests this is why Rey saw the Knights in a vision in The Force Awakens, and it would certainly be a more interesting explanation for that trailer glimpse of "Dark Rey" beyond it being a cheeky trailer fake-out or yet another vision. Plus, it'd explain why she saw countless versions of herself in the cave in The Last Jedi.

There are meanwhile those who believe the Knights to be clones of Palpatine, Kylo Ren or even Luke Skywalker, and a totally bonkers theory that the Knights of Ren don't even exist yet, with Rey's vision in fact being a premonition. Good luck figuring that one out.

While the balance of probabilities says these theories have virtually no chance of being true, you should probably keep the prospect of the Knights being Rey clones in the back of your mind, because it's certainly not impossible.

But now let's get back to reality and, using slightly more reliable sources than fan conjecture, try to piece together what The Rise of Skywalker's marketing is telling us about the Knights...
