Star Wars: A Visual History
12. Star Wars: The Original Trilogy DVD (2004)
Just as a cinematic rerelease had been orchestrated to build excitement for The Phantom Menace, so was a DVD debut of the original films used to get audiences ready for Revenge Of The Sith.
To add a little extra "value" to the set, Lucas made a few more modifications to the films. Some were good (a few snafus in the Special Editions were fixed), but most were terrible - replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen as Anakin's Force ghost at the end of Return Of The Jedi is unforgivable.
