Star Wars: What Happened To Count Dooku BEFORE He Was A Sith
2. A New Apprentice
After Averross passed the Trials, Dooku would take on twelve-year-old Qui-Gon Jinn as a second padawan. When Qui-Gon first met Dooku, he sensed the Padawan was frightened, Not of Dooku, but of not being worthy and failing to become a Jedi.
Dooku believed the young Jedi to be very wise and self-aware, which many Padawans lacked in denying their fear, praising the boy for his honesty, insight and intelligence.
Dooku was a very thorough Master, showing Qui-Gon most of the Temple, ending with a visit to the Jedi Archive. During this visit, they found an old holocron of Jedi prophecies, which shocked Dooku. He taught his apprentice there were no more prophets, as it led these Jedi down dangerous paths towards the dark side. Qui-Gon asked if wanting to know the future led to the dark side. Dooku simply told him it took more than that.
After several months of training, the pair were sent to Shurrupak to participate in a battle on the surface. During this battle Qui-Gon met Dooku’s first apprentice, Averross.
