Over his time as a Jedi, Dooku became disillusioned with the Order, the Republic and the corruption within the Galactic Senate.

However, he would first return to Serenno with Master Kostana and Sifo-Dyas after a plea from his sister. He would claim the title of Count of Serenno after he overthrew his brother Ramil. With this title, he gained his family’s fortune, which was one of the largest in the galaxy. After this, the new Count informed Yoda that he was leaving the order, which made him a part of the Lost 20, becoming its 20th member. He said goodbye to Sifo-Dyas, saying they’d see each other again.

Despite his new power, Count Dooku would disappear from public life, with many believing he’d gone into exile to form his own offshoot of the Jedi Order. But during this time, he was approached by Darth Sidious, as the Sith saw Dooku as a leader for a new Separatist movement. By exploiting Dooku’s frustration towards the Republic, Sidious turned him to the dark side of the Force. Dooku followed this path due to his desire of power and to get rid of the corruption in the Republic. Sidious gave him the name Darth Tyranus

From here, Count Dooku went on to lay the groundwork for the beginning of the Clone Wars…
