Steers Does 17

Igby Goes Down director Burr Steer's career is in need of saving.

Burr Steers's debut feature Igby Goes Down was a nice little indie film with a great central performance from Kieran Culkin. With that film Steers proved he's a not only a smart writer but also more than capable of marshaling a talented ensemble. Since Igby, Steers has been paying the bills by working on TV shows The L Word, Weeds and Big Love. With his latest film, 17, Steers must really be behind on his mortgage payments. The film centres on a middle-aged father who wakes up one day to find he's 17. He then enrolls in the same high school as his two kids to get closer to them. The creepy looking Zac Efron will take the lead in 17 as he continues his quest for world domination. The project is set up at New Line with Adam Shankman producing. Steers is a filmmaker I'd love to see more from but not like this dammit! source - variety
