Stephen King: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best
25. Dreamcatcher
On paper, Dreamcatcher should be amongst the cream of the crop of Stephen King adaptations. It was directed by Lawrence Kasdan, the Oscar winner best known as co-writer of The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, and Return Of The Jedi and the script was written alongside William Goldman, probably the best screenwriter in Hollywood. It had an impressive cast, too, managing to bag Homeland star Damian Lewis, future Mist star Thomas Jane, Timothy Olyphant and Jason Lee before they really blew up - and nestled them amongst seasoned professionals like Tom Sizemore and Morgan Freeman. So where, exactly, did it all go wrong? Well, the premise isn't great, with a group of kids who shared a psychic link during childhood growing up and being confined to a log cabin in winter, under attack from aliens. Throw in some awful special effects and you've got a total failure.
