Stephen King's “It”: 10 Things The Remake Must Get Right
7. The Music Has To Be Great
The 1990 TV adaptation of It contains some truly brilliant music. The main theme, for example, is a joyous tune in traditional circus style. Juxtaposed against the terrifying image of Pennywise, however, the nature of the tune changes, becoming something altogether more sinister.
In fact, composer Richard Bellis received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music for his score, and it's undoubtedly one of the things that makes the adaptation so effective.
When it comes to the remake, then, it mustn’t be bogged down by standard horror music, employing dramatic loudness over subtle personality. Whoever is doing the music can't be afraid to get a bit, well... weird.
