Suicide Squad: 10 Actors Who Could Replace Tom Hardy

9. Jack O'Connell

Of course, if the producers did want to skew a little younger even than Hardy, they could just plump for the next big thing. Jack O'Connell is so far on a very similar track to Hardy (although hopefully without all the substance abuse issues that blighted his early career), starting with some acclaimed performances on TV and in smaller films. In fact now's the perfect time to get O'Connell, since he's right on the cusp of becoming a major star. He's currently winning plaudits aplenty for his role as real-life Olympian-turned-WWII POW in Angelina Jolie's Unbroken. Much like Hardy, O'Connell has proven his ability to adapt to any number of characters, genres and €“ yes €“ accents. It feels like he's just waiting for his one huge role that will make him a household name outside of the UK, and Rick Flag (his second army role after IRA drama '71) could be just the role he's looking for.
