Suicide Squad: 10 Characters Who Could Steal The Show
9. Katana
The trailers have shown us even less of Katana the martial arts expert and master swordswoman portrayed by real-life martial arts champ Karen Fukuhara (wholl make her feature film debut in the role). In the comics, she's also got a tragic origin story: she saw her husband killed by his evil brother and turned to heroism soon after. So yeah, she's not traditionally a villain like most of the characters in the Suicide Squad movie. The latest trailer gave us a glimpse of her sword, The Soultaker, which has been directly lifted from the comics. This mystical blade allows her to trap the souls of her enemies, which should come in handy given the villainous company shell be keeping throughout the movie. It looks like shell be fighting Killer Croc at one stage, for example, which could make for a great fight scene. Interestingly, as well, its been said in the press that Katana is a volunteer member of the Squad. Unlike Harley Quinn, Deadshot and the like, shes signed up of her own free will rather than being forced to fight for the government on fear of death. Itll be interesting to find out why. This could make her a righteous presence in the movie, a heroic character that tries to keep the others in check. This probably wont always work out, and could seriously backfire if she tries to get too high-and-mighty with her nefarious teammates. Expect her to be seriously close to the centre of the action, and quite possibly singled out for abuse from her fellow Squad members.
