A couple of weeks ago, the answer to that question probably would have been "zero." Since then, Warner Bros. has obviously announced Zack Snyder's Justice League, and that changes everything.

AT&T, the owners of HBO Max, has Tweeted "Anything is possible. All it takes is a little magic" and "One thing at a time" when asked about the possibility they will #ReleaseTheAyerCut, and the simple fact they responded is arguably noteworthy. A week ago, Ayer said, "It is simply not my call or my IP. I love WB - it’s always been my 'home studio' I fully respect and support the incredible path the DCU is taking under their stewardship. My cut of Suicide Squad may always be just a rumor. And that’s just fine."

Since then, however, he's really ramped up the "Ayer Cut" reveals and teases on social media, and seems empowered by what's happening with Justice League. None of the trades have weighed in on whether there are any serious discussions, but asked if even exists, the director said: "Of course it exists. And it is almost complete except for some visual effects."

In other words, it wouldn't be that hard to release it, and it's now down to Warner Bros. to decide whether they want to admit for a second time that the changes they made to a filmmaker's vision were wrong as Justice League is embarrassing enough for them as it is...
