Suicide Squad: 10 Major Reveals From The New Images
3. Amanda Waller Is The Real Villain
Amanda Waller has never been portrayed as a hero as such, but she's certainly done some good, and is more of an antagonist than an outright hateful character. Well, it sounds like the DC Extended Universe's take on the leader of Task Force X is going to border more on the latter as Ayer's comments seem to sum her up fairly well. After all, the trailer made it clear that Waller is going to have an intimidating and ruthless edge as she rounds up these villains, but star Viola Davis tells Empire that she's a scarier woman than anyone may have so far expected. "She's relentless in her villainy," the actress explains. "When you look at her, there's nothing that seems dangerous. Her only power is her intelligence and her complete lack of guilt. I read a great book called Confessions of a Sociopath, which was frightening but very helpful..." Whether Waller is going to end up being the big bad of the DCEU or will get her comeuppance in this movie won't be known until next August, but it begs the question of whether or not Suicide Squad actually has any good characters. There's Rick Flag of course, but rumours point to there being a big twist there about his true allegiances, so that leaves...Batman?! Ultimately, it seems like Suicide Squad is going to be all about rooting for the lesser of two evils!
