10. The Writer Is Terrible

Well, first up, it should be stated that this is unlikely to be the finished shooting script that will actually be made into the film. It's the draft that Warner Bros have been using to coax potential directors and stars in with €“ it worked on David Ayer, who previously helmed Fury and End Of Watch. Apparently at least two other directors turned it down, based on the script. Which is probably because this 2011 draft was penned by Justin Marks, previously best known from writing the screenplay to 2009's irredeemably awful Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. At least the first Street Fighter had Raoul Julia. This just had Chris Klein. Marks probably wasn't totally responsible for that train wreck €“ really, anyone who tries to make a video game into a movie is doomed to failure from Jump Street €“ but on the basis of these leaked Suicide Squad pages, his ear for awful, hackneyed action-movie dialogue hasn't be lost.
