Suicide Squad: 10 Reasons It Will Save The DC Cinematic Universe

4. Minimal Competition

As important to a big box office success as a solid marketing campaign and good word-of-mouth is timing. Guardians Of The Galaxy became the undisputed king of summer thanks to having the whole of August, the summer's quiet month, to itself (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took number one for a single week, before everyone realised it was dross). Suicide Squad looks set to repeat that trick, coming out at the start of August 2016, where the closest to what could be described as competition is The Smurfs Reboot. While good for the film on the whole it gives the whole DC enterprise a boost, bringing in a wider audience (want to go to the cinema in that month and you'll probably have to see this) that will translate to continued success down the line. Of course, Summer 2016 is a while off and other studios could no doubt populate the month with some big hitters, but it's more than likely there's be nothing too major to upset Suicide Squad's commercial hopes.
