Suicide Squad: 10 Reasons It Will Save The DC Cinematic Universe

3. The Arrow Connection

Although Suicide Squad and most of its characters are mostly unknown to movie audiences, DC have been sowing the seeds of awareness in Arrow, where Deadshot, Boomerang and Amanda Waller have all appeared and a version of the eponymous team itself has been created. Obviously this isn't within the movie continuity (which really whacks of a missed opportunity), but it manages to bring decidedly obscure (or easily mockable, in the case of Boomerang) characters into the lime-light. Having Deadshot play a focal part in Arrow has made him that little more accepted a character, particularly in the ever-critical geek-circles on the internet. Sure, some people may gripe at having multiple versions of the same characters, but that shouldn't be a put-off for most. Thanks to Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk and, to a lesser extent, X-Men, general audiences are getting pretty used to re-imaginings of iconic characters, so are unlikely to be too taken aback by seeing new takes on their familiar heroes.
