Suicide Squad: 10 Reasons It Will Save The DC Cinematic Universe

2. It's Coming So Soon After Batman V Superman

Batman V Superman is a guaranteed box office hit. There is no version of reality where it doesn't come out on top; everyone will turn out to see the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel duke it out while the plethora of supporting characters cameo in anticipation of their own stand-alone movies. Whether it'll actually be any good, however, is another matter. There's so many confused creative decisions that suggest a distinct lack of direction, while there's been little suggest that, beyond throwing in more superheroes, any of the wrongs of Man Of Steel will be righted. While a poor movie would be bad in its own right, the impact Dawn Of Justice could have on the ongoing Cinematic Universe would be disastrous; it feels like its entire success is riding on this flick. The thing is, if it does (as has been predicted) wind up sucking, thanks to the Suicide Squad it shouldn't be the death knell of the franchise. If Batman V Superman goes against all the odds and turns out good, then Ayer's movies can only benefit. If, however, it ends up being another mess, it doesn't matter; Suicide Squad is distinct enough to stand on its own and plough out a new direction for the franchise, all but ignoring the previous mis-steps.
