Suicide Squad: 10 Theories About Jared Leto’s Joker

9. He€™s Not The Original Joker

€œGotham City and me, we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns€, says a snarky Bruce Wayne in more than one of the trailers for the next DC Comics movie Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Note the plurals in that sentence. Is there a chance that Jared Leto isn€™t playing the DC Extended Universe€™s first Joker? Some fans certainly think so. Rumours have flown around the web positing that Leto could actually be playing a fanatical follower of the original Clown Prince Of Crime. In a similar way to how Kylo Ren attempts to imitate Darth Vader in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the idea is that Leto is trying to pick up where a previous Joker - who's now incapacitated for some reason - left off. This one doesn€™t seem the likeliest, admittedly. Would Warner Bros really start a new Batman franchise at a point when his original nemesis is actually already out of action? That doesn€™t sound like the kind of decision a massive film studio with their eyes on box office success would make. But still, there€™s plenty of story potential in the idea of a copycat Joker, if the big-wigs in charge are brave enough to make that creative decision.
