8. Hes Part Of A Huge Insane Clown Posse
This theory goes one bigger than the last one: what if Jared Letos Joker isnt the only Joker currently active? Could there be an entire clan of Joker-wannabes working together to follow in the footsteps of the original? The Gotham TV show has hinted at the idea of multiple Jokers taking inspiration from an inspirational frontrunner, perhaps the DC movies will run with a similar idea.
WIRED magazine shared the rumour that Leto's Joker could be a DC Extended Universe equivalent of a Juggalo; the face-paint-wearing, obsessive fans of the hip-hop group Insane Clown Posse. The Juggalos, in real life, band together for music festivals and dress up like their clown-garb-wearing idols. Itd make sense, in the DC film universe, if the weirdest members of society adored the Joker and attempted to imitate, like a grim extension of the Juggalo idea. DC has played with this concept before, notably with the Jokerz gang who menaced Gotham in the futuristic Batman Beyond animated series. This theory would also go some way to explaining why the Suicide Squad promotional materials havent shown us a clear central villain. Perhaps Warner Bros are trying to hide the fact that there are actually dozens of aspiring Jokers in the movie. Itd certainly be an internet-breaking twist.
