Suicide Squad 2: 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited
1. Jared Leto's True Chance At Greatness
Poor Jared Leto. He was put in an impossible situation with 2016's Suicide Squad. He wasn't the main villain and he wasn't a member of the Squad, so he was stuck in the in-between of the plot, leaving him with limited, over-edited screen time.
That shouldn't be what Jared Leto's legacy as Joker should end like. Now, while it's not exactly a necessity to have Joker be the primary antagonist of SS2 (there are other less-used villains available, after all), imagine a film where Jared Leto can actually perform with a polished script and a director that would actually reign him in if he goes too far. James Gunn would undoubtedly have tons of fun writing up someone like Joker, and Leto's clearly game for the craziness, so it could be a great match.
Leto deserves a true opportunity at redemption. After all, he showed glimpses at a compelling interpretation at several moments in SS1, and he deserves to build off of that. He's far too great a talent to be left in the history of Joker portrayals as someone who could've been great, had they been given the chance.
