Suicide Squad 2: 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited

4. Exploring The DCU's Darker, Seedier Side

Something that SS1 missed an opportunity on exploring was the sketchy nature of the Squad as a whole. Outside of Amanda Waller, who clearly isn't above getting her hands dirty, the film never took time to explore how many under-the-table deals and negotiations go on with these kinds of characters. If the sequel ventures into situations where the Squad has to interact with other shady types or make questionable decisions, it'd offer a fresh perspective from the usual 'wholesome good character placed in a bad place' scenario.

Many of the SS's missions are extremely straightforward and simple, but something that a writer like James Gunn could have fun with is the world that these characters live in. Unlike the Justice League, who have global security threats, the Squad deals with people far lower on the social spectrum (and just as reprehensible as the evil supervillains).

Showing more of the ins and outs of the lower-tier crime world would provide an interesting perspective, especially when none of the other DCU films would really dig into this concept.
