Suicide Squad 2: 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited
3. Viola Davis's Amanda Waller And Will Smith's Deadshot
While Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is a scene-stealer, she's got multiple movies she'll be able to appear in. In contrast, Amanda Waller and Deadshot are pretty contained within the Suicide Squad series, making it unlikely they'll ever venture out of it.
This means that fans will only get so many opportunities to see Viola Davis's pitch-perfect Amanda Waller and Will Smith's hardened (but still charismatic) Deadshot. In turn, this makes their appearances even more special, only building the hype up for this sequel even further.
The first movie illustrated that Waller is a master manipulator and is always in control with unflinching confidence, so this installment could have fun playing with that concept. Can Waller truly be beaten? Deadshot was a loner who began to settle into a leadership role, forming some camaraderie with his Squadmates. What if in the sequel, he's put in a situation where he's got to take down a Squad member or risk losing his own life?
Testing these established characters would provide increasingly three-dimensional characters, turning them into real people that the audience can connect with on a deeper level. Both Davis and Smith are more-than-capable of pulling off anything given to them. Hopefully, Gunn doesn't hold back.
