Suicide Squad 2: Casting James Gunn's DCEU Sequel

2. Viola Davis - Amanda Waller

Some of the writing of Amanda Waller in the first movie was a little iffy, to say the least, but Viola Davis' performance was genuinely great and she's as key a part of the sequel as the puppeteer behind the Squad.

Waller needs to be the driving force in the Sequel again because she works both as the untouchable government villain (too powerful and too tenacious for even Batman to take down) and also the catalyst for the Squad to work against something potentially worse. She's a perfect love/hate figure and abandoning Davis' strong performance would be a huge disappointment.

As Gunn proved in Guardians, he's best when he's playing with a broad, complex moral spectrum of characters and Waller is very much key to that working in Suicide Squad 2.
