Suicide Squad 2: Casting James Gunn's DCEU Sequel

1. Nathan Fillion - Hawkman

Bringing Ben Affleck's Batman back might be logistically difficult, but even if it wasn't, it wouldn't be the right thing for the Suicide Squad sequel. He's just not needed and he fired a warning shot at Amanda Waller that suggested his involvement would make too little sense.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a hero involved in Suicide Squad all the same. And there's a ready-made stand-in for the Bat thanks to the location of the first Suicide Squad movie's action. David Ayer's movie was set in Midway City, known to comics fans as the prowling ground of the Silver Age heroes Hawkman and Hawkgirl. So why not involve them this time, since they were notably absent last?

The best option to play that hero - no matter how little he's involved - is the same Gunn veteran that the director used in cameos in his Guardians movies (or planned to anyway): Nathan Fillion. It's about time he had more of a chance in a superhero movie and if this potentially led to more appearances (even in his own title), then it'd be an even better idea.

Just imagine how hard the audience would pop for that cameo.
