Suicide Squad: 5 Things Critics Got Right, 5 Things They Got Wrong
9. Suicide Squad Is Overstuffed
WRONG.
This is just silly. So many critics, while slamming the film for its thin plot have called it bloated or overstuffed in the same review. I suppose a film can be both of those things, but it takes one hell of an argument that critics haven't exactly made.
Calling Suicide Squad overstuffed just sounds like a Batman v Superman review stuck on repeat. Suicide Squad is not overstuffed. If anything, the movie is under-stuffed because it does not have enough going on.
The story is very straightforward and while there are a lot of characters, only a few receive any noteworthy focus. There are several members of the Squad, but it really boils down to Deadshot, Harley Quinn, El Diablo, Rick Flag, and Amanda Waller with a little Captain Boomerang sprinkled in for comic relief.
Suicide Squad is an ensemble film and having actual storylines for only a handful of characters is hardly stuffing the story beyond capacity.
