Suicide Squad: 8 Things Everybody Missed In The Trailer

1. How Harley's Hair Was Coloured

One of the most contentious parts of the trailer was the seeming confirmation that Suicide Squad is following the divisive New 52 backstory of Harley Quinn, with Harleen Quinzel thrown into a vat of chemicals by the Joker in a mirror of his own origin. While it was obvious from the Comic-Con footage Joker was going to have a very active role in Harley's descent into madness - it's strongly implied she's the one he's going to hurt "really, really bad" - the visually striking shot of the two in the sludge caused a much stronger reaction. Despite so much focus put on these few shots, a lot of the discussion seems to have missed that this moment contains one of the biggest reveals of the trailer. Yup, this is how Harley Quinn got her tips; as he rescues her, the acid melts Joker's purple suit and Harleen's blue shirt, the colours mixing into the chemicals and permanently dying Harley's hair. While it's a minor detail, this should actually reassure some people that this origin won't be a direct comic translation; in print Harley had already died her hair at this point (red and black instead of purple and blue), with the dousing merely setting it, so at the very least one key element of the origin (Harleen donning the harlequin outfit before getting her skin bleached) has been changed.
