Suicide Squad: 8 Things That Need To Happen

Because sometimes, all madness needs is a little push.

A team of jailed supervillains, implanted with micro-bombs, takes on deadly black ops missions for the government in exchange for clemency (and keeping their heads). This is the concept behind Suicide Squad, and it€™s one that just might be crazy enough to work. The DC Extended Universe explodes onto the big screen next year with Batman V Superman, a clash of the titular titans that is certain to be a box office behemoth. The pressure then falls to this villain-led follow-up to both live up to the pyrotechnics of its predecessor and continue to nurture an infant DC brand into adulthood. 2016 needs to be a complete success in order to give the DCEU legs. It is emerging in its nascent state in the middle of the genre€™s most historic and saturated year, leaving no room for uncertainty or unoriginality, much less failure. To that end, Suicide Squad must be not only a commercial hit, but most importantly, a film that resonates with a global audience. Accomplishing that would prove that Warner Bros. have sowed their seeds in the right place. With a blend of A-list actors and rising stars, and immensely talented director/writer David Ayer (End of Watch, Fury) at the helm, it certainly has the potential to be one of the most unique comic book movies ever made. The question is, will it live up to that, or fall short of its promise? Love it or hate it, the Squad is on the way and here are 10 things the movie has to do to achieve greatness.
