Suicide Squad: 8 Things That Need To Happen

6. A Scene-Stealing Joker

Will the Joker be the main antagonist of the movie? Or a Hannibal Lecter-like watcher, waiting to make his escape. It€™ll remain a mystery until the marketing picks up, but the Joker is one of the most unpredictable elements in a movie filled with them. This film€™s box office health will rely on many elements, but the Joker is the wildcard. He€™s the most popular villain in comics and his presence, along with Batman€™s, could make the numbers every bit as unpredictable as the Squad itself. Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger brought a fresh and creative chaos to the character, and their efforts made the Dark Knight€™s Joker an imposing shadow that all future interpretations will struggle to come out of. Oscar winner Jared Leto takes on the mantle and, together with Ayer, needs to find a unique way of reinventing the character. They must both live up to their talents, and the Joker€™s rich history if they want to make this beautiful experiment a success. Leto is a mesmerizing acting talent and a complete chameleon, and despite the polarizing nature of his Joker€™s appearance, he is quite capable of living up to, and perhaps even surpassing Ledger, but the question remains, will he? The Joker needs to stun audiences to propel this movie to greatness, and if he does that, Warner Bros. have just started the hype-train for the inevitable Batman solo entry that sees Affleck and Leto continue one of pop culture's most enduring wars.
