Suicide Squad: 9 Major Implications For Future DC Movies

7. Magic In The DCEU

While the DCEU already contained superpowered beings, whether they were aliens like Superman or metahumans such as The Flash, Suicide Squad introduces another element: magic.

With the presence of Enchantress, a witch, as well as Katana's soul-eating sword, it very much brings magic into the DC Extended Universe. It's an interesting 'magic is real' approach to the subject, not something necessarily expected from this universe, but an element that should now continue to play a part throughout their slate going forwards,

The first film (or character) to feel the impact of that will be Wonder Woman, as it means her lasso of truth will indeed be magic (rather than some more scientific explanation), and possibly her sword and shield too. Then there's Shazam, which is some way off yet, but should also feature the use of magic, and it opens it up for a host of other magical characters, weapons and so on to appear across the DCEU.
