Suicide Squad: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

6. Harley Quinn

Suicide Squad Ensemble
Warner Bros. Pictures

Now, this is definitely going to be a minority opinion, but Harley Quinn loses points for almost being as pointless as the Joker to the narrative. She outshines him somewhat by having a bit of an emotional journey and a tiny bit of self-revelation, but it ends up being reset anyway.

She's essentially just there for eye candy (even if she owns her sexuality), with Waller's introduction seemingly justifying her selection purely on the grounds that she's more crazy than the Joker. There is no justification for that, but even then it's scant reason. All she is is a liability, who could have easily been explained as a plant by a crooked/pressurised member of Waller's team looking to get out of the Joker's dog-house to help her escape.

Margot Robbie's performance is ok. She's getting away with a lot, like her uneven accent and her inconsistent delivery, but there's promise that she might grow into it for next time.
