Suicide Squad: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

4. Deadshot

Suicide Squad Ensemble
Warner Bros. Pictures

You know what you're going to get from Will Smith: you're going to get Will Smith.

Even when he's playing real life figures, his is a stardom built very much on his own name and his own persona. It's just a matter of what grade of Smith he'll deploy.

The same goes here: Deadshot is actually a very interesting character, with an emotional heart, some of the most authentic depth and an intensity that transcends the material. It's just a shame that he sticks out like a sore thumb and you can't help but wonder why Smith would slum it so far.

With Deadshot still in chains, hopefully we'll see him in the sequel and a better script (and director) will have the courage to let him be the actual heart rather than diluting him with a hollow romance elsewhere.
