5. One For The Road

Baz Poonpiriya's (Bad Genius) One for the Road takes so many potentially predictable and hokey melodramatic concepts and makes them feel totally new through both his stylish direction and an exceptional acting trio.

Focused on a dying man's final road trip with his friend, you might think you've seen this movie before, but Poonpiriya's uncommonly ambitious engagement, filled with unexpected time shifts, flashbacks, and cutaways, keeps it thrillingly unpredictable from start to finish.

The result is a film that gets away with things other projects would be excoriated for, because they don't commit quite so ardently to their earnest emotions nor do they boast actors as absurdly talented as Thanapob Leeratanakajorn, Natara Nopparatayapon, and Violette Wautier.

One for the Road will be distrusted by Jet Tone Films.
