4. Strawberry Mansion

It's easy to take one look at Strawberry Mansion and roll your eyes: it's an absurdist fantasy-rom-com taking place in a future where dreams are taxed, and a "dream auditor" (Kentucker Audley) tasked with examining people's dreams finds himself struggling to discern what's real and what isn't.

For some it will certainly be quirky to a fault, but Audley and Albert Birney's film also oozes style despite its low budget, ensuring it's more often than not a charmingly strange piece of work.

It certainly has cult classic potential, even if for many it will simply be too intently peculiar - and it's tough to imagine the filmmakers having it any other way.

Strawberry Mansion is awaiting distribution.
