Sundance Film Festival 2023: 20 Movies You Need To Know About
12. Sometimes I Think About Dying
Daisy Ridley has kept a fairly low profile since Star Wars' Skywalker Saga ended over three years ago, but she's back now with a project which serves as an appealingly understated showcase of her acting chops.
Sometimes I Think About Dying stars Ridley as Fran, a shy, socially awkward office worker whose unremarkable life is finally given a burst of excitement when a new co-worker, Robert (Dave Merheje), takes notice of her.
For many, Rachel Lambert's (In the Radiant City) new film will simply be too quiet and slight to make an impact, but it so perfectly captures the soul-draining nature of tedious office work, and the small ways in which it can be made more tolerable.
Ridley does herself a strong service here, totally convincing as a young woman almost entirely devoid of presence who is but slowly teased out of her shell.
Sometimes I Think About Dying is currently seeking distribution.
