Superhero Costumes in Film: 5 That Were Awesome and 5 That Sucked

...and 5 That Sucked

5. Judge Dredd, Judge Dredd (1995)

Fortunately for Sylvester Stallone, the severity of this entry has been somewhat minimised by the sheer impressiveness of the more fittingly apparelled Judge Dredd of 2012. Unlike its counterpart, in which Karl Urban played the futuristic law enforcer, the 1995 rendition was underwhelmingly poor. As was the case with many of the costumed heroes of the '90s, this Dredd was far too literally conceived. Boasting a nylon catsuit, a two-bit array of clunky 'armour' and a rather unorthodox looking helmet, Stallone's costume was perhaps too reminiscent of a fancy-dress purchase. It certainly didn't emit a sense of authority that should be associated with the ultimate law enforcement officer, that's for sure.
