5. New Batman Deserves His Own Film
First up is the fact that Warner Bros. have to create a Batman that fits with Man Of Steel's overblown mentality, simultaneously ticking the boxes of the former's reality whilst staying consistent with Superman's world of aliens and skyscraper-felling battles. How they're going to do this we don't know, but it's going to have to be one Herculean feat to make a believable Batman work in the face of an enemy who could punch his guts out the back of his behind. Whilst DC are eager to catch up with Marvel's master-plan with the Avengers, they seem to be cutting out a pretty lengthy amount of setup needed to make this new crossover work. Whilst the red threads connecting Marvel's individual films were easy to pick up on through obvious dialogue, set-design, and pretty much the entirety of Iron Man 2, Man of Steel contained nothing in relation to a wider world of heroes. Instead focusing on the development of Superman's inner-turmoil in a way that tonally aped the previous Batman trilogy, it then spiralled off into standard Zack Snyder-territory. Although this approach pleased many Superman fans who were yet to see a full-blown CGI-fest where their favourite hero was throwing antagonist General Zod through endless city blocks, the structure seemed jarring to the rest of us. Depending on how hog-wild DC are planning on going with Batman's inclusion to the roster, it's either going to feel extremely over-the-top to include him in similar fights without adequate repercussions, or the lofty heights of Man of Steel's endgame will remain out of place in the larger canon.
