11. NOBODY Dies - Black Phone 2
The most basic expectation from just about any horror movie is that at least a few people are going to die, right? Well, that wasn't quite the case in Black Phone 2.
Even though it revolves around the spectral presence of serial killer The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) terrorising Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), there isn't a single death in the contemporary timeline.
Instead, all of the deaths have already taken place - the three boys previously killed by the Grabber at Alpine Lake and Finney and Gwen's mother Hope (Anna Lore), who we learn was also killed by him.
The Grabber doesn't actually successfully kill anyone in the present, and even though he's vanquished at the end of the movie, you can't even really say that he dies considering, well, he's already dead.
It's a wholly unexpected outcome given the many supporting characters who seem ripe for a-murdering, and to those left wishing Black Phone 2 were a little nastier, a bit of a disappointment.
