12. The Tank Flip - Sisu: Road to Revenge

Even accepting the inspired insanity of the original Sisu, few were prepared for quite how hard Jalmari Helander would go in sequel Sisu: Road to Revenge, dialling up the cartoonish action to 11.

This is a film that, for all of its vengeful brutality, borders on Looney Tunes levels of absurdity at times.

This is never more apparent than when Aatami (Jorma Tommila) finds a derelict tank and drives it straight towards the Soviet border checkpoint, where villain Draganov (Stephen Lang) is waiting with his men.

You might assume that Aatami's just going to shoot up the joint, but not quite - he's actually rigged up the tank with a ton of explosives, which he detonates as he approaches.

The explosion is forceful enough to launch the tank into the air, where it flips balletically over the checkpoint, physics be-damned. And to be clear, Aatami is still inside the damn thing while this is happening.

As heroic plans go it doesn't have a whole lot of logic to it, especially as it deals some serious damage to Aatami himself, but the Rule of Cool evidently won out, and thank God it did.
