9. Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice
A Vince Vaughn movie that gets dumped on Hulu doesn't exactly set expectations high, but sci-fi action comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is an absolute hoot that so thoroughly deserved a major theatrical release.
Without giving too much away, Vince Vaughn stars as both the present and future versions of gangster Nick, who through time machine shenanigans ends up basically in pursuit of himself, while roping his wife Alice (Eiza González) and criminal pal Mike (James Marsden) into the mayhem.
Even if Hulu basically buried this film as though embarrassed of it, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a consistently hilarious and creative genre mash-up that laudably fuses a crime caper with romance and, yes, a big dollop of sci-fi.
It shouldn't work, but the crackling dialogue, intense action, awesome soundtrack, and terrific dual performance from Vaughn make this a superior slice of straight-to-streaming fare.
Again, it should've been given a chance to shine on the big screen.
