This brutal satirical horror film is a ferocious takedown of social media's pervasive role in our lives today, wrapped in a study of a traumatised woman, Cecilia (Aisha Dee), finding her horrific past confronting her once again while on a bachelorette weekend.
Sissy tackles its subjects with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, but is held together by a spectacular central performance from Aisha Dee as the title character, and some wonderfully gnarly gore effects.
Keenly mocking the fictionalised versions of ourselves we broadcast to the world, Sissy seems primed to become a cult hit with horror fans.
Sissy will premiere on Shudder later this year.
