Sylvester Stallone's 15 Biggest Movies - Ranked Worst To Best
3. Creed (2015)
Another very tricky one. Rocky Balboa had been a big enough surprise; the idea of Stallone taking on his signature role for a seventh time nine years later seemed even less likely, much less that performance becoming a career highlight. But that turned out to be the case, and even without the Oscar, the underdog Balboa came good yet again. So why only third place? Again, it comes down to Stallone's legend. Yes, Creed is a terrific movie and Stallone is excellent in it, but when all's said and done, it really isn't his film. Director Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan are the real stars of the show, even if they were only able to play in Rocky's sandbox because Sly was gracious enough to allow it. Having long insisted on having input as a writer on most of his films, Stallone showed real humility in letting someone else take the reigns of his creation, and few would dispute that paid off for him. As well as earning him some of his best reviews, Creed has become the 9th biggest movie of Stallone's career, having taken $173.2 million to date (and it's still in cinemas).
