Teaser Poster for COWBOYS & ALIENS has cool influences!
It's Indiana Jones meets The Searches with this truly striking teaser poster for Jon Favreau's genre-bending blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens. Featured here as a shadowy figure is lead Daniel Craig as the Man With No Name-esque gunslinger armed with a rifle and a look-a-like prop left over from Favreau's Iron Man movies - the latter's marketing campaign Universal are clearly trying to capitalise on by using much of the same orange and blue colour tones and character poster design. The film (high concept tale of aliens landing in the Wild West, and finding their plans to conquer the world messed up by cowboys & indians who put their differences aside to band together against the E.T. threat), opens July 29th, 2011 and we are due a trailer on Wednesday. Craig stars alongside Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and more. Clearly, there's reasons to be excited that this one won't drop the ball like Jonah Hex - but we're hopeful it's not a case of too many cooks in the writing department (credited are Star Trek pair Kurtzman/Orci, Iron Man's Ostby/Fergus and Lost vet Damon Lindelof). Yahoo, who debuted the poster carry the full synopsis...
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponentstownsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriorsall in danger of annihilation.
