Terminator: 10 Dumbest Moments In The Series

10. John Connor's Top Lieutenant Is A Girl He Made Out With In High School

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines expanded Skynet's cross-hairs a little. Instead of simply sending a Terminator back in time to take out Sarah Connor, or young John, they decided to target his "lieutenants" - key members of the human resistance against the machines in the future. At first glance, it makes sense, but this particular plot line doesn't hold up under scrutiny. No explanation is ever given as to why other fighters in the future wouldn't simply step up into the place of missing lieutenants, or why Skynet was so over-confident in the ability of one Terminator to do the job after repeated failures previously. But really, the most glaringly dumb moment of all of this was the discovery that his key lieutenant was Claire Dane's Kate Brewster, who Connor once made out with in a friend's basement. Oh, and to add to the silliness of it, she's destined to be his future wife/mother of his children. Rise Of The Machines marks the first time where fans have really been told anything about future-John's personal life, and the fact that his second in command, and wife, are a random girl he met in high school who happens to also survive Judgement Day stretches any reasonable willing suspension of disbelief.
