Terminator 6: Everything We Know So Far
6. Linda Hamilton Is Also Returning To The Series
With James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger on board, Terminator 6 has already given fans reasons to be optimistic and nostalgic, and here's another - Linda Hamilton is reprising her role as Sarah Conner.
The veteran actress hasn't engaged in cyborg killing since 1991's Judgement Day, and she's the only cast member with a 100% track record when it comes to staring in unequivocally good Terminator movies, so this is a big deal.
Cameron said he was keen to have Hamilton on board because there are plenty of middle-aged male action heroes in the spotlight right now, and he saw the opportunity to provide a female equivalent in the shape of a more seasoned Sarah.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes him as saying...
“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return… There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”
Sarah was revealed to be dead in Terminator 3, but in a series with time travel at its core, bringing deceased characters back is nothing a few lines of dialogue won't fix.
Indeed, a younger version of the character played by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke featured in Terminator Genisys.
