Terminator: Dark Fate: 6 Things It MUST Do To Be A Good Sequel
4. Add Some New Direction And Run With It
Let's be honest! Discovering that this was yet another Terminator film set around the Connor family legacy was not the most promising start. Judgement Day saw the nuclear cleansing of the entire world and so affected everyone. As a strong as John and his mother were, do we really need yet another Terminator film set around the antics of the same group of people? Has that ground not already been endlessly trod, rectoned, and rebooted?
Fortunately, we appear to have some new characters thrown into the mix, namely Mackenzie Davis' and Natalia Reyes' enigmatic looking presence beside Linda Hamilton in that teaser picture. Please, please let's see them take centre-stage, and add a whole new narrative dimension with it. It's the one thing none of the follow up Terminator films tried to do, and could be an integral factor in re-igniting the franchise.
Is it a gamble? Yes! So take it!
An iconic canon with this many false starts really doesn't have a lot left to lose. Wowing audiences once more could potentially re-write the Terminator's recent history... So to speak.
