Miles Dyson (Joe Morton) is one of the most pivotal figures in the entire Terminator franchise, a Cyberdyne Systems engineer responsible for creating the neural net processor which eventually leads to the rise of Skynet and Judgment Day.

And though Dyson isn't formally mentioned in Dark Fate, there is one grim sequence which nods to his role in T2.

A brief flash-forward shows the day that Legion decided to shut down global electronic infrastructure, resulting in a plane almost immediately crashing out of the sky.

This is a playfully dark nod back to T2, where Miles tells his wife that the goal of the neural net processor is to allow planes to fly themselves without a pilot who is sick, tired or hungover.

The delicious irony, of course, is that this new version of Skynet ended up doing the exact opposite and guaranteeing that planes crashed the world over.
